Soccer Goal Machine Alan Shearer · Mar 16, 11:48 AM

When I meet fellow fans, players or coaches at different soccer parks and they know I’m a Geordie, the first thing that they generally normally talk about is Alan Shearer.

For me, Alan Shearer was the complete striker. Determined and driven, Shearer is the type of player you hate to play against, but love to have on your side. Still in any doubt? I’ll leave you with Alan Shearer’s top ten goals…

Soccer Players Giving 100% Is Just Not Good Enough · Mar 4, 08:04 PM

It really gets on my nerves when I read about players giving 100% and how those type of players are just the type you need when you’re in a scrap.

Alan Smith, now playing for Newcastle after a six million pound transfer from Manchester United, has failed to score in 29 appearances – in the majority of those games he played up front. Then he comes out and issues a Newcastle United rallying cry.

As a Newcastle United fan I’ve heard it all before. Mainly from the likes of big name gobshite players who put in crappy performances time after time – Kieron Dyer, Craig Bellamy, I’m talking about you.

It’s all well and good spouting off to the press about fighting, but you’re only as good as your last game, and Newcastle’s performances have been nothing sort of shambolic recently. Alan Smith being one of the main culprits.

Arsenal's Eduardo Suffers Horror Break · Feb 23, 07:24 AM

News coming out of England this morning is that Arsenal player Eduardo has suffered a horrific leg break during the open minutes of his side’s game with Birmingham.

Birmingham defender Martin Taylor was given a straight red card by referee Mike Dean and distressed Arsenal players ushered on physios and medical staff immediately.

According to some reports I’ve read, the tackle wasn’t malicious, just very badly timed.

The injury was apparently so bad that replays of the incident were not shown.

FA Cup Fifth Round Recap with Quarter Final Draw · Feb 18, 07:39 PM

The FA Cup saw one huge tie this weekend that would be a fitting finale for any domestic cup competition. Manchester United played Arsenal in the only all Barclays Premier League tie of the weekend. The Rest were made of of BPL teams with clubs from the lower divisions.

The results are as follows:

The marquee tie of the round featuring Manchester United and Liverpool saw the team from Manchester coming away with a terrific and somewhat surprising result. It could also tip the psychological factor in Manchester United’s favour with the run-in for the Barclays Premier League title hotting up.

The eleven men of Barnsley went to Anfield and fought for every blade of grass, every ball and were thoroughly deserving of their last minute victory. The pressure is now mounting on Liverpool’s manager Rafa Benitez, who needs to get some positive results out of their next few fixtures or face the consequences. Not finishing fourth this season in the Barclays Premier League could spell the end of Rafa’s reign at Anfield and usher in a new period for the scousers.

The Quarter Final Draw is as follows:

Apart from Alex Ferguson complaining that Man Utd have drawn another Premier League club (I’m sorry Alex, can you show me the unwritten rule where Manchester United have to get the easy games?), it’s an interesting draw. It could well be the year of the underdog, or it could easily be a predictable Chelsea vs Manchester yawnfest final.
