News released by the Multichannel News Network yesterday confirmed that the Fox Soccer Channel will finally end it’s crappy feed and catch up with the rest of the world by going HD. If you’re a regular reader of this blog you’ll know that we’ve been campaigning for FSC to go High-Def.
However, this is no small undertaking by Fox and the transition will not be completed until 2010, hopefully just in time for the World Cup.
“It became obvious to us more than a year ago that television will be HDTV, and that holding on to standard-definition distribution is really an anachronism,” Fox Group president of engineering Andrew Setos said. “The company realized it wanted to be on a footing to be able offer any and all of its networks in HD.”
Fox will begin the switch to the Motorola-based HD gear on March 1, 2009, and is aiming to migrate all networks by the end of 2010.
Finally, those of us who have forked out the cash for a High-Def TV will be able to enjoy soccer like it should be enjoyed – in crisp, clear high-definition clarity. If you don’t have an HD capable TV yet and you enjoy the game of soccer, now is your chance, don’t miss out!
Oh, thank you Fox! It’s about time!
