Transfer Rumor Round-Up: Manchester City, Newcastle United and Brek Shea

by admin on June 8, 2008

Manchester City is the last place you would expect to find Brazilian soccer players, yet you may find two end up there before the summer is all said and done. The first one being striker Jo, who Man City expect to have on their books in less than a weeks time. They will have to pay in the region of around $40 million.

The next transfer is of Brazilian playmaker and arguably the best soccer player in the world, Ronaldinho. How much leverage there is in this remains to be seen, but there’s no smoke without fire. Apparantly Ronaldinho has hinted he may be interested in a move to the Eastlands in what would be the transfer coup of the summer for the blue side of Manchester. Talks are underway, and are thought to be at a tenuous stage. The knock on effect of this, is that players who were expected to leave the club this summer may now have to have a rethink – Richard Dunne being one of those. Who wouldn’t want to play with Ronaldinho?

Newcastle United meanwhile are rumoured to be chasing giant Serbian Nikola Zigic who is taller than Peter Crouch and supposed to be the tallest man alive playing professional soccer. Keegan has always been a fan of the ‘biggun’ and littlun’ (big one and little one) strike partnership and it may be that it could soon happen at St. James’s Park.

Some news closer to home is that Manchester United will send scouts to watch the golden boy of US soccer Brek Shea. The defender/midfielder is apparantly earning a name for himself which has not gone unnoticed by Alex Ferguson.
